Welcome to Developer Update #5, the update that is totally in May and not in June at all. This time, we're changing up the way we do DevLogs and will discuss features as topics. Let's dive in:

Progress Report

Dispatch

Astro has begun work on an automated dispatch call and response system for members of Civil Protection and Overwatch, in both first and third person, as shown in the attached video. This system will, hopefully, give those with keen ears the motives of the Combine, and the penalties for their deaths/failures, just as in Half-Life 2.

Weapons and Assets

Going further, Astro has implemented and animated the Pulse SMG, Combine Sniper, Wallhammer, Ratel, Suppressor LMG, and a unique AR1 designed by Civan. In testing, these weapons are performing very well, and performance has improved significantly since our last tests. We're hoping to have a weapons test out soon™️ to get feedback on these new tools.

Furthermore, Civan took the effort to develop ammo pickups and boxes for every weapon, and is currently making strides towards revitalizing the Citizen uniforms!

Apartments

Chris Comstock, in the meantime, has been hard at work importing and getting apartments fully functional across every building. Apartments, when owned, will deduct an initial token cost after checking if you have a valid civil status for the apartment you are attempting to purchase, then render any decorations client-side as an optimization tool. Unless I am explaining this badly, to which I'm sure I'll be told this is wrong, but I'll be at work for that!

Nexus Overhaul

Ballads has overhauled our original Nexus interior framework meticulously, enhancing the visuals and implementing new assets where necessary to create a much more immersive, and functionally designed interior.

User Interface

Nya0 is currently deep in the progress of finalizing the Unit Selection screen, which has been merged with the Loadout screen to allow Combine players to select an initial loadout when spawning, and has further developed and refined the Citizen interfaces to allow for an easier, more expansive method of character customization!

Release when?

While we are aware of the stir-craze around release, we also aren't quite ready to announce an official date as we'd like, however based on our current trajectory, we're still anticipating a June release which totally isn't this month, because it's still totally May!.

That said, we are still wary that situations may change with developers dropping out of the project or assets not being developed in time. We will keep you all updated as soon as we have a date, or if things change from a projected June release.
