Welcome to our our Developer Update (eight already?). This month we're still finishing up core UI elements, adding more details and optimizing the map!

Implementing server suggestions

Following a suggestion from AccusedAuthor, we have implemented a new channel: developer questions. You can ask a question directly to the dev team by typing "-ask <question>" in bot commands!

Level Design

PngNoRe made some phenomenal detail passes over the map, adding more catwalks, cables, props, and developing a tram route throughout the city! Animated holographic screens light up the night and day alike with Combine propaganda, and the gentle hum of Combine machinery is almost calming in the city.

Away from the minor details that enrich the environment, however, PNG has developed a lovely resistance base in the sewers and completely reworked the road to Kleiner's laboratory!

Meanwhile, on a similar front, Ballads has been hard at work decorating and enriching our apartment interiors across the map to make the world feel more lived in.

User Interface

This month, we hired a new UI developer named Astral to work on whipping our UI design into shape alongside Nya0. Tasked with the main player HUD, Astral will be developing the most common 'front-end' HUD the player sees most frequently.

On the menu front, Astro has made a massive amount of progress on the Combine loadout screens. Faction selection screens function as intended, and weapon loadouts are no properly supported with detailed information breakdowns for the requirements necessary for a specific loadout. Further on, the Citizen customization screens have had preliminary passes and should soon be fully functional.

Programming

Chris Comstock has continued development of the spectacular soundscaping system that massively enriches the player atmosphere, however not stopping there, he's successfully implemented a saving 'safe' inventory for playerts in their apartments. Each prop within your apartment will have a valid inventory, and these inventory slots persist even when you leave the game. Moving from apartment to apartment should, likewise, save the player inventory and automatically transfer it over.

Your apartment will, finally, have an important use in stockpiling and storing your contraband!

And some of the coolest stuff just got finished right after the deadline for this Dev Log, unfortunately, but we'll certainly have some teasers. 😉
